A beautiful weight with a jumping lion
Lot 4056
THRACE OR WESTERN ASIA MINOR. Uncertain. Circa 2nd-1st centuries BC. Weight of 1/4 Mina (Tetarton) (?) (Bronze, 52x72 mm, 133.20 g). Lion jumping to left. Rev. Blank. Pondera -. Very fine.

This lovely weight likely dates to the late Hellenistic era and may originate from Lysimacheia in Thrace, where similar weights occur. However, these usually carry an ethnic, whereas our weight does not. Thus, the attribution remains uncertain
